
At our October 2011 meeting the committee approved the following grants :
Safety in Action - Swale : £1,800 was provided towards the new Swale Safety in Action event for Year 6 pupils, designed to develop citizenship and safety skills and to increase awareness of the dangers that face young people as they move onto secondary school.
DAVSS (Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services) : £2,500 towards the cost of training a team of volunteers to support local people who are experiencing domestic abuse.
Romney Marsh Chrisitan Fellowship : Assistance with the purchase of internet tablet devices to enhance the detatched youth work provision in the Romney Marsh area.
G-Safe : A grant of £1,500 was provided to G-Safe (Business Crime Reduction Partnership) to help them improve their current scheme.
Kings Hill Youth Club : A grant of £2,500 was provided to enable them to undertake outreach youth work around the local area.
Gravesend Street Pastors : A grant of £2,500 was provided towards the recruitment, training and equipping of a new round of Street Pastors.
At our July 2011 meeting the committee approved the following grants :
Kenward Trust : £2,000 towards their work skills and horticultural rehabilitation project, run by rehabilitated dependants
The Paddocks - Riding for All - £1,200 for their inclusion camp for referred young people and mentoring groups
West Kent & Maidstone Mediation : £2,500 for the training of volunteers for restorative justice clinics
Kent Film Foundation : £2,419 for the purchase of equipmentfor use in their work with disenfranchised teenagers who are not in employment, education or training.
West Kent YMCA : £2,500 for their 2 Cs (Community Counts) project for young people to get involved in making equipment for their communities
Challenger Troop : £5,000 for a 9 week programme for young people engaged in crime and anti social behaviour
The Noise on Sheppey : £1,177 towards their summer programme using young volunteers in local community action projects
Thanet Young Ambassadors Achievement Programme : £2,000 towards this programme of structured inputs, community action and mentoring.
Ashford Street Pastors : £2,500 towards the training and equipping of Street Pastors volunteers.
Medway pre-loading campaign : £1,000 to support the campaign that will highlight the risks and consequences of binge drinking and pre-loading (drinking large quantities of alcohol before going out).
At our April 2011 meeting the committee approved the following grants:
Family Matters: A grant of £1,200 was made to contibute to young people's rape support in Kent.
In addition to the above small grants were made to the East Kent Horse Watch, The Counselling Centre and West Kent Extra.
